- Patient Census: Average daily census of 38
- Start Date: April 6, 2026
- End Date: July 6, 2026
- Facility: Magnet-designated, Level I trauma teaching hospital
- Scrub Color: Any solid color

Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years recent experience in Cardiac Stepdown, IMC, Telemetry, or Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license required at time of application
- ACLS and BLS certifications (American Heart Association or Red Cross only)
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Experience with Cerner electronic charting system required
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Experience in Level I trauma and teaching hospital settings preferred
- Ability to float to like units as needed
- Must work every other weekend and 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to adult patients with cardiac and complex medical needs in a stepdown/Telemetry setting
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, manage dysrhythmias, and respond to cardiopulmonary emergencies
- Care for post-procedural cardiac patients (angiogram, MI, cardiac cath, cardiac surgery, sheath removal, TR band)
- Manage feeding tubes, pre/post hemodialysis, renal failure, and IV therapy including ports, arterial lines, central lines, and PICC lines
- Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, manage heparin protocols, and handle blood product administration
- Provide care for patients with neurological, respiratory, and complex wound needs (CVA, chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, wound vac)
- Utilize isolation precautions and personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV team, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
- Float to similar units within the hospital as needed
- Document patient care accurately and timely using Cerner electronic health record
