Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Tennessee license or Compact RN accepted)
- BLS Certification (required prior to first shift)
- ACLS Certification (required prior to first shift)
- Minimum 1 year of bedside clinical experience (2 years preferred) — critical care, LTAC, sub-acute, or surgical experience preferred
- Experience with ventilator care, tracheostomy management, wound care, and complex rehab patients is a plus
- Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and interdisciplinary communication skills
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments within 8 hours of patient admission and ongoing assessments throughout the shift
- Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Provide direct patient care using the nursing process: assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating — LTAC RN responsibilities
- Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and in a timely manner
- Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching from admission to support safe transitions of care
- Communicate changes in patient status to physicians, charge nurses, and case management to ensure continuity of care
- Supervise and provide direction to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and orientees
- Promote patient and employee safety by adhering to hospital safety policies and procedures
- Participate in team building, quality improvement, and contribute to a positive work environment
- Assume charge responsibilities as requested after orientation — potential for charge nurse or shift lead duties
- Engage in professional development and continuing education to maintain clinical competencies
