Job Requirements / Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of bedside clinical experience required (acute care, LTAC, or sub-acute experience preferred)
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or compact state license accepted
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required prior to first shift
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification required prior to first shift
• Experience in LTAC, sub-acute, or similar critical care recovery settings preferred
• Strong patient assessment, documentation, and care planning skills

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments within 8 hours of admission and develop individualized care plans
• Provide direct patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Supervise Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and orientees as needed
• Initiate discharge planning and patient/family education starting at admission
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and in a timely manner
• Promote patient and staff safety, following hospital guidelines and safety policies
• Communicate changes in patient status to the interdisciplinary care team to ensure continuity and safety
• Participate in team conferences, rehabilitation programs, and plan of care meetings
• Contribute to a positive, efficient work environment through teamwork and calm leadership
• Assume charge nurse responsibilities as needed after orientation
• Engage in ongoing professional development and continuing education relevant to LTAC and critical care nursing
