Job Details – CVOR Travel Nurse | Schenectady, NY
- Location: Schenectady, NY 12308 (Capital Region of New York; local parking/commute info available)
- Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (May 11, 2026 – August 10, 2026)
- Shift: 8-hour day shifts, Monday – Friday, 6:30am – 3:00pm
- Hours per Week: 40
- Call Schedule: Every 3rd weekday (3:00pm – 6:30am) and every 3rd weekend (Fri 3:00pm – Mon 6:30am)
- Employment Type: Travel Nurse – On-site, Cardiothoracic Operating Room (CVOR)
- Unit: Cardiothoracic OR – Open Heart Surgery, Cardiac Surgery, Perfusion support teams
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $2,750–$2,890/week
Required Qualifications – CVOR RN / Perioperative Nurse
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York or ability to obtain New York RN licensure prior to start
- BLS certification (AHA or American Red Cross; can be obtained prior to start date)
- Minimum 2 years recent CVOR / Cardiothoracic OR experience with open heart procedures
- Demonstrated circulate AND scrub skills (perioperative skills checklist submission required)
- Prior travel nurse experience preferred but not required
- Ability to float to other units within competencies (ICU/step-down exposure helpful)
- All compliance documents due 7 days prior to start date
Key Responsibilities – Operating Room Nurse
- Provide expert perioperative nursing care in the Cardiothoracic OR for open heart and complex cardiac surgeries
- Perform circulate and scrub roles during cardiac surgical procedures as needed
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Participate in scheduled call rotation and emergent cardiac cases
- Maintain accurate documentation in Cerner EMR and perioperative records
- Adhere to facility policies on attire and infection control (no artificial or gel nails; no chipped polish)
- Support unit efficiency and patient safety through SBAR communication and surgical time-out protocol compliance
