Required Qualifications (Labor & Delivery RN)
- Minimum 1 year recent Labor & Delivery RN experience required (2 years preferred)
- Graduate of a professional nursing program approved by a state board of nursing
- Valid RN license: Oklahoma state license or multi-state (compact) RN license
- BLS for Healthcare Providers (AHA)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring — proof of instruction/passage required
- Epic EMR experience preferred (electronic medical record experience valuable)
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage workflow efficiently in a busy L&D unit
- Attention to detail in clinical assessments and documentation
Key Responsibilities – Labor & Delivery Nurse
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for Labor & Delivery patients
- Perform patient assessments and develop individualized care plans for mothers and newborns
- Monitor maternal and fetal status, including fetal heart monitoring and documentation
- Provide culturally sensitive nursing care across all age groups and diverse patient populations
- Organize and prioritize nursing skills appropriate to the L&D patient population
- Demonstrate sound clinical judgment and anticipate patient and unit needs
- Accurately document the nursing process and patient care using correct medical terminology
- Facilitate patient teaching, discharge planning, and family education
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and make timely referrals when indicated
- Participate in unit performance improvement, continuing education, and mandatory in-services
