Required Qualifications (Labor & Delivery RN)

  • Minimum 1 year recent Labor & Delivery RN experience required (2 years preferred)
  • Graduate of a professional nursing program approved by a state board of nursing
  • Valid RN license: Oklahoma state license or multi-state (compact) RN license
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers (AHA)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring — proof of instruction/passage required
  • Epic EMR experience preferred (electronic medical record experience valuable)
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage workflow efficiently in a busy L&D unit
  • Attention to detail in clinical assessments and documentation

Key Responsibilities – Labor & Delivery Nurse

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for Labor & Delivery patients
  • Perform patient assessments and develop individualized care plans for mothers and newborns
  • Monitor maternal and fetal status, including fetal heart monitoring and documentation
  • Provide culturally sensitive nursing care across all age groups and diverse patient populations
  • Organize and prioritize nursing skills appropriate to the L&D patient population
  • Demonstrate sound clinical judgment and anticipate patient and unit needs
  • Accurately document the nursing process and patient care using correct medical terminology
  • Facilitate patient teaching, discharge planning, and family education
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and make timely referrals when indicated
  • Participate in unit performance improvement, continuing education, and mandatory in-services
