Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist in a hospital or acute care setting (inpatient OT)
- Valid and current Occupational Therapist license in the state of Arizona (Arizona occupational therapy license)
- BLS Certification (required prior to first shift)
- Ability to supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and OT/COTA students
- Strong commitment to patient and employee safety, including safe patient handling
Responsibilities – Hospital Occupational Therapist
- Plan, organize, develop, administer, and supervise OT treatment in accordance with federal, state, and local standards
- Assess patients' level of functioning and implement appropriate inpatient treatment plans
- Participate in interdisciplinary team processes, discharge planning, and care coordination
- Complete documentation according to department policies and procedures
- Promote patient and employee safety, including safe patient handling and infection control practices
- Supervise and mentor OT assistants, students, and new staff
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
- Demonstrate a customer service mindset and support continuous quality improvement initiatives
- Maintain flexibility in scheduling and collaborate with team members for optimal patient care
