Travel Nurse Requirements / Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina or Compact State (valid and in good standing)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- NIHSS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg (medical-surgical) nursing experience
- EPIC EMR experience preferred — experience with electronic medical records (EMR) helpful
- Ability to interpret telemetry and manage PICC lines
- Must reside outside an 80-mile radius from the facility (travel nurse requirement)
Clinical Responsibilities — Medical-Surgical Nurse (RN)
- Provide acute care to adult patients with diagnoses such as CHF, COPD, pneumonia, sepsis, UTI, stroke, diabetes, arrhythmia, and more
- Perform common procedures including Foley and NGT insertion and application of restraints when clinically indicated
- Use and monitor common equipment: suction, telemetry monitors, K-pad, and other acute care devices
- Interpret telemetry strips and collaborate with the clinical team to manage arrhythmias and acute changes
- Manage PICC lines, IV medications, and post-operative care within Med/Surg scope
- Collaborate with ancillary staff and float to other units within specialty scope as needed
- Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR and uphold patient safety and quality standards in a hospital setting
