Labor & Delivery RN (Night Shift) – 13-week travel nurse contract in Durham, NC. EPIC, AWHONN, NRP required. Join a supportive maternity team caring for moms and newborns.
Location & Contract Summary
- Location: Durham, NC 27704 (Durham healthcare, North Carolina nursing jobs)
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (April 21, 2026 – July 21, 2026)
- Role: Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN), travel nurse / travel nursing job
- Shift: Night shift – 3 x 12-hour shifts per week (19:00 – 07:30), 36 hours/week
- Weekend Requirement: Every 5th weekend
- Floating: Required to Postpartum unit
- Orientation: Bi-weekly, 36 hours
- Uniform: Royal blue scrubs
- Immunization: Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,020 - $2,130 per week

Required Qualifications – Labor & Delivery Nurse
- Minimum 2 years recent Labor & Delivery RN (obstetric nurse / maternity nurse) experience
- Current NC RN license or Compact RN license in hand
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM), NRP
- EPIC charting experience required (electronic medical record / EMR experience)
- Open availability required; no block scheduling
- One supervisory reference from the last year required
- Local candidates within 75 miles considered (at adjusted rate)
Key Responsibilities – L&D RN / Obstetric Nurse
- Provide comprehensive care to OB patients from 20 weeks gestation through 6 weeks postpartum
- Manage low-risk and high-risk pregnancies (GDM, FGR, pre-eclampsia, IVF patients, and more)
- Assist and support vaginal and cesarean deliveries in scrub and circulate roles
- Perform newborn assessments, APGAR scoring, and neonatal resuscitation (NRP)
- Administer medications and therapies including Magnesium Sulfate, Pitocin, insulin drips, etc.
- Use fetal monitoring and advanced equipment: EFM, IUPC, Doppler, bedside ultrasound
- Educate parents on discharge planning, car seat safety, cord care, and breastfeeding support
- Float to Postpartum unit as needed and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (respiratory, radiology, pharmacy, social services)
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in EPIC (EMR) to support quality patient care
