Qualifications / Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state-required)
- BLS certification (required prior to first shift)
- ACLS certification (required prior to first shift)
- Minimum 2 years of bedside clinical experience (post-grad)
- Experience in Stepdown, ICU, LTAC, or other critical care settings
- Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and patient education skills
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments within 8 hours of patient admission to develop individualized care plans
- Provide LTAC nursing care and participate in patient rehabilitation programs, applying the nursing process for direct patient care
- Identify and address patient and family teaching needs; initiate discharge planning and patient education from admission
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in a timely and accurate manner
- Communicate significant changes in patient status to the interdisciplinary team to ensure continuity and safety
- Supervise and provide direction to ancillary nursing personnel, including LPNs and CNAs
- Promote patient and employee safety by adhering to hospital policies, procedures, and LTAC best practices
- Assume charge nurse responsibilities as requested after orientation and provide leadership on the unit
- Maintain communication with unit management regarding supplies, equipment, and training needs
- Engage in ongoing professional development and continuing education to stay current in critical care and LTAC nursing
