ICU Registered Nurse (RN) travel contract in Winston-Salem, NC — 13-week night-shift critical care opportunity for experienced ICU/Stepdown nurses with ACLS/BLS. Job Details — Travel Nursing / ICU RN
- Location: Winston-Salem, NC (27103) — Winston-Salem healthcare, North Carolina nursing jobs
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1660 - $1750 per week
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (travel nurse contract)
- Shift: Night shifts, 12 hours (18:45 - 07:15)
- Hours per Week: 36 or 48 hours (depending on contract)
- Unit: 5th West Intermediate Care Unit (ICU Stepdown / ICCU)
- Patient Ratio: 1:3-4
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Orientation: 24 hours during the first week
- Start Date: April 6, 2026
- End Date: July 6, 2026
Qualifications — ICU RN / Travel Nurse Requirements
- Minimum 2 years recent ICU, PCU, DOU, IMC, or Stepdown experience (critical care / stepdown nurse)
- Valid RN license in North Carolina or Compact State (required at time of start)
- ACLS and BLS required; NIHSS certification required
- Experience with arterial lines and titrating vasoactive drips
- Proficiency in telemetry, dysrhythmia recognition and management
- Experience with rapid response teams, IV insulin protocols, and blood product administration
- Central and peripheral line care/management, PICC line management
- Chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac), external CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy care
- Knowledge of isolation precautions, infection control, and non-invasive airway management
- Epic electronic charting (Epic EMR) experience preferred
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Open to first-time travel nurses
Key Responsibilities — ICU / Stepdown RN
- Provide high-quality nursing care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in an ICU stepdown setting (critical care nurse duties)
- Monitor and manage patients with complex diagnoses: post-rapid response, respiratory distress, unstable hemodynamics, GI bleeds, post-op patients, and OB complications
- Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips (e.g., Cardizem, Nitro, Precedex, Cardene, Levophed, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Neo)
- Recognize and treat dysrhythmias using bedside telemetry monitors and perform bedside EKG interpretation
- Perform central and peripheral line care, manage chest tubes, tracheostomies, and non-invasive airway devices
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV team, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response
- Float to sister ICCU unit as needed based on census and skill set
- Maintain strict adherence to isolation precautions and infection control protocols
- Document patient care accurately using Epic (Epic EMR) and complete all required documentation in a timely manner
