Travel Surgical Technologist (CST) – CVOR: 13-week travel contract in Columbus, OH at a Level I Trauma hospital supporting advanced cardiac and vascular surgery. - Employment Type: Travel Contract — CVOR travel surgical tech job
- Setting: Hospital – Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) at a Level I Trauma center
- Hours per Week: 36
- Shift Schedule: Evening shifts – 2x12-hour (10:30–23:00) & 2x8-hour (14:30–23:00); flexibility required
- Weekend Rotation: As needed
- Call: Required
- Charting System: EPIC (experience with EPIC charting preferred)
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1860–$1990/week
Job Requirements (Qualifications)
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 5 years total CST experience — hospital surgical tech jobs preferred
- At least 2 years in cardiac & vascular surgery (cardiovascular surgical tech / cardiac OR experience)
- Minimum 1 year CVOR experience
- Minimum 1 year experience in a Level I Trauma facility
- Experience with cardiovascular/thoracic instrument reprocessing and specialized CVOR instrumentation
- Proficiency in aseptic technique, scrub & circulate roles, crash cart/emergency response, and equipment documentation
- Familiarity with common CVOR procedures (CABG, EVAR, TEVAR, valve replacement, and other cardiac/vascular surgeries)
- Ability to work within the 06:30–23:00 time frame as needed
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
- 2 professional references required (one must be from a manager/director or formal leadership)
Responsibilities
- Scrub and assist in complex cardiovascular and thoracic surgical procedures as a CVOR surgical tech
- Prepare, maintain, and reprocess surgical instruments and specialized cardiovascular equipment
- Ensure strict adherence to aseptic technique, sterile field maintenance, and universal protocols
- Support trauma cases and participate in crash cart and emergency response for high-acuity patients
- Accurately document equipment usage, instrument counts, and surgical procedures in EPIC
- Participate in weekend rotations and take call as scheduled to support the CVOR team
- Collaborate with surgeons, perioperative nurses, perfusionists, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality patient care
