Travel ICU RN Job Details
- Location: Frankfort, KY (Zip: 40601) — local Kentucky nursing jobs & travel nurse opportunity
- Facility: 173-bed acute care hospital (Magnet-designated)
- Unit: ICU (10 beds) — critical care / intensive care unit
- Assignment Duration: 13 weeks
- Start Date: December 15, 2025
- End Date: March 16, 2026
- Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), three shifts per week, every other weekend required
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1570–$1650
- On-Site Position: travel nurse/onsite RN role
ICU RN Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU / critical care nurse experience in a hospital setting
- Active RN license in Kentucky or compact state (Registered Nurse)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIH Stroke Certification (must be completed annually)
- Preferred experience: chest tubes, NG tubes, wound vacs, drains, post-dialysis assessment, central lines, blood transfusion, ventilators
- Ability to float to PCU, 3rd floor, or ED as needed (flexible nursing assignments)
- Required uniform: navy or gray scrubs
ICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, evidence-based care to critically ill patients in a 2:1 or 3:1 patient ratio environment
- Manage and monitor clinical equipment including Philips telemetry, Baxter pumps, iMobile, ventilators, and glucometers
- Perform advanced nursing procedures: CPAP/BiPAP management, port access, therapeutic phlebotomy, telemetry interpretation, and post-dialysis assessment
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams — Clinical Nurse Coordinators, RNs, PCTs, Nurse Externs, and clinical educators — to support patient outcomes
- Document patient care accurately using Meditech Expanse (electronic health record experience preferred)
- Engage in unit recognition programs, staff development, and positive workplace culture (GroupMe used for staff communication)
