Travel PACU Nurse Job Details
- Location: Boston, MA 02114 (Boston healthcare / Massachusetts nursing jobs)
- Assignment Type: Travel Nurse – PACU RN (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit)
- Start Date: June 14, 2026
- End Date: September 12, 2026
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Weekly Hours: 36 hours guaranteed
- Shift: 12-hour shifts; approximately 50% day/night rotation; up to 2 weekend shifts per month
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,130 – $2,250 (competitive travel nurse pay)
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Active RN license (must meet Massachusetts licensure requirements)
- Minimum 3 years of RN experience (acute care preferred)
- At least 1 year of travel PACU RN experience
- At least 1 year experience in an academic medical center or tertiary hospital
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications; PACU-specific certifications (e.g., CPAN) preferred
- Ability to work rotating day/night shifts and occasional weekends
- Completion of required onboarding health screenings and background checks
PACU Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality post-anesthesia care to patients recovering from a wide range of surgical procedures (postoperative care, recovery room nursing)
- Monitor vital signs, assess patient status, recognize and respond to clinical changes, and initiate appropriate interventions
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and pain management as prescribed
- Assist with airway management and emergent interventions per unit protocols
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, perioperative teams, and multidisciplinary staff to ensure safe handoffs and optimal patient outcomes
- Educate patients and families on postoperative instructions, discharge criteria, and recovery expectations
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the medical record and adhere to hospital policies, safety standards, and infection control practices
