- Assignment Type: Travel & contract nursing
- Start Date: May 10, 2026
- End Date: August 9, 2026
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour nights (night shift RN)
- Hours per Week: 36 (guaranteed)
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,250 - $2,370
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Rotating every other holiday
- Charting System: EPIC (experience with EPIC preferred)
Qualifications / Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois, or proof of application in process (Illinois nursing jobs / RN)
- Minimum 1 year of recent ICU experience; Neuro ICU or neuroscience ICU experience preferred
- BLS and ACLS (AHA) required
- Clinical experience with ventriculostomy, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification, ventilator management, arterial and central line care
- Experience with tPA administration, acute stroke management, and post-craniectomy care
- Ability to titrate IV drips and manage complex hemodynamic therapies per physician orders
- Comfortable floating to intermediate and general care units as needed
- Must pass a comprehensive drug screen (drug-free campus)
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, evidence-based critical care nursing for neuro patients (Neuro ICU RN / critical care RN)
- Monitor and manage patients with complex neurological conditions including ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, traumatic brain injury, and post-craniectomy patients
- Perform and manage advanced ICU procedures: ventriculostomy care, arterial and central line maintenance, ventilator management, and emergent interventions
- Titrate and closely monitor multiple IV drips, vasoactive medications, and sedation per physician orders
- Interpret and document telemetry and hemodynamic data; use Phillips monitors and EPIC for charting
- Collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary team—physicians, charge nurses, house supervisors, respiratory therapists, and patient care techs
- Float to intermediate and general care units as needed and participate in unit orientation, education, and performance improvement
