Job Requirements

• Active RN license (per state requirements)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of prior nursing experience; Med-Surg or Orthopedic experience preferred
• Competency in IV medications, IV therapy, and blood administration
• Competency in application and monitoring of restraints and seclusion, and care for patients in restraint or seclusion
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of Lewiston, ME
• No previous employment at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center
• Candidates with licensure actions or background hits will not be considered

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect orthopedic patient care on a Med-Surg Ortho unit, including post-surgical monitoring and recovery
• Assess patients on admission and continuously throughout their stay; document assessments and interventions
• Develop, implement, and update individualized care plans in collaboration with patients and caregivers
• Administer IV medications, IV therapy, and blood products following clinical protocols and safety standards
• Apply and monitor restraints and seclusion when clinically indicated, ensuring patient safety and regulatory compliance
• Perform wound care, pain management, and education for post-op orthopedic patients and families
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (physicians, PT/OT, case management) to support safe discharges and optimal patient outcomes
