Join a dynamic Emergency Department team in Brownsville, Texas, as an Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) for a 13-week travel nursing contract. This is an excellent travel nurse job for an experienced Emergency Department nurse who thrives in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment. Ideal candidates will have strong triage, trauma, and critical care nursing skills and experience with Meditech EMR.
Job Details — Travel RN / ER Nurse
- Weekly Estimated Pay (Travel RN): $1,460 – $1,540
- Location: Brownsville, TX (78526) — South Texas, Gulf Coast
- Setting: Emergency Department (22 beds) — Emergency Room (ER) / ED
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (April 6, 2026 – July 6, 2026)
- Shift: 12 Hour Days (7A–7P)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekend Requirement: 2 weekends per schedule
- Dress Code: Royal Blue Scrubs
Job Requirements — ER / Emergency Department Nurse
- Minimum 5 years of recent Emergency Department (ED) experience in a high-acuity setting — experienced ER nurse / trauma nurse
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (active and unrestricted)
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- TNCC preferred
- Strong triage skills and critical thinking; familiarity with ESI triage guidelines
- Experience with trauma and cardiac alerts, including care of STEMI, stroke, and sepsis patients
- Experience with Meditech documentation system / Meditech EMR preferred
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required — bilingual ER nurses encouraged to apply for Brownsville healthcare roles
Responsibilities — Emergency Care / Critical Care Nursing
- Perform triage assessments and prioritize patient care using ESI triage guidelines
- Provide direct patient care for trauma, STEMI, stroke, sepsis, and behavioral health patients in the ED
- Assist with intubation, CPR, rapid sequence intubation (RSI), and full code response
- Administer medications, perform IV insertions, obtain and interpret EKGs, apply splints, and provide wound care
- Perform moderate sedation for procedures such as reductions or cardioversion
- Coordinate transport and prepare patients for transfer to higher levels of care
- Adhere to isolation, infection control, and safety protocols in emergency care
- Document and reassess patients efficiently in a fast-paced environment using Meditech EMR
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary, team-oriented staff to deliver excellent patient-centered emergency care
