- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,800 – $1,890 (competitive travel nurse pay)
- Location: Albany, GA 31701 — Georgia nursing jobs / Albany GA travel nurse
- Unit: Oncology – 7th floor (29 beds) | Medical-Surgical RN role
- Contract Duration: 17 weeks (April 13, 2026 – August 10, 2026)
- Shift: 12-hour nights (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM); every other weekend required — night shift travel nurse
- Hours per Week: 36 guaranteed
- Care Setting: Acute care / oncology nursing
- Charting System: MEDITECH EMR
- Scrub Color: Caribbean Blue
Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years recent oncology nursing experience in a medical-surgical or acute oncology setting
- Active RN license (Georgia or compact state) — must provide license at submission
- BLS (AHA) certification required
- ONS certification preferred for chemotherapy administration (chemo competency)
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Prior travel nurse experience preferred; no first-time travelers
- Must reside at least 75 miles from facility (driver’s license required at submission)
Responsibilities
- Provide skilled, compassionate care to oncology patients with acute symptoms, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, sickle cell crisis, hematology issues, medical overflow, and end-of-life needs
- Manage patient ratios typically 1:5 (occasionally 1:6) — strong med-surg and oncology triage skills required
- Administer and monitor chemotherapy per facility protocols when certified; collaborate with pharmacy and oncology team
- Collaborate closely with nurse aides, charge nurse, and interdisciplinary team (charge nurse may be out of staffing grid)
- Complete floor-specific orientation (3 days) and comply with travel nurse onboarding
- Float rarely to medical acute units as needed; flexibility and teamwork important
- Rotate holidays with staff and work every other weekend per scheduling
- Utilize central monitor for telemetry (reading strips not required) and accurately document care in MEDITECH EMR
