Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,250 – $2,370 (Competitive travel nursing pay)
- Location: Geneva, NY 14456 (Finger Lakes region, New York)
- Position: Travel RN – Operating Room / Perioperative Nurse (Circulator)
- Contract Duration: 16 weeks
- Hours per Week: 36
- Shift: 4x9s (four 9-hour day shifts per week), Monday–Friday
- On Call: 1 day on-call/week (Mon–Thurs), plus 3 on-call weekends every 4–6 weeks (Fri–Mon)
- Start Date: April 27, 2026
- End Date: August 15, 2026
Required Qualifications
- Active New York Registered Nurse (RN) license – required for New York nursing jobs and travel RN positions
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) RN experience as a circulating nurse
- Circulator experience required; perioperative nursing and AORN-standard clinical skills preferred
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (AHA or RQI)
- NIH Stroke Scale certification
- Ability to float to satellite units (SSMH/GGH) as needed
Responsibilities
- Perform circulating RN duties across multiple surgical specialties including Orthopedics, General Surgery, Urology, ENT (including pediatric patients), GI, Spine, Ophthalmology, and Podiatry
- Provide perioperative nursing care: assess patient needs, develop individualized care plans, and collaborate with surgeons and interdisciplinary teams
- Deliver direct patient care in the OR, monitor intraoperative status, and adjust plans based on patient response
- Educate patients and families on postoperative self-care, wound care, and lifestyle modifications
- Promote a healing environment and provide emotional support to patients and families
- Advocate for patient safety, maintain sterile technique, and follow infection prevention protocols
- Document perioperative care, education, and patient responses accurately in the electronic medical record
- Participate in quality improvement, unit-based initiatives, and ongoing professional development
