Job Requirements
- Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification
- Minimum 1 year recent hospital experience as a Respiratory Therapist (ICU/acute care experience preferred)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Strong clinical skills in ventilator management, airway management, and pulmonary function testing
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team; strong communication and patient education skills
- State licensure or eligibility for Michigan licensure preferred
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed in a hospital setting
- Evaluate patients, recommend and implement respiratory treatment plans, and document responses
- Deliver physician-prescribed treatments using invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen therapy, aerosol devices, and nebulizers
- Perform chest physiotherapy, suctioning, oximetry and capnography monitoring, and review chest x-rays
- Conduct 12-lead EKGs, basic arrhythmia recognition, and pulmonary function studies
- Assist with bronchoscopy, tracheostomy care, chest tube management, and related procedures
- Perform arterial punctures, monitor ventilation efficiency, and maintain accurate clinical documentation and charging
- Operate, maintain, and assist with preventive maintenance of ventilators and respiratory equipment
- Follow laboratory testing protocols, handle specimens, and support quality control efforts
- Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to BLS and ACLS guidelines and participate in shift hand-offs and interdisciplinary communication
- Other duties as assigned to support patient care and departmental goals
