Job Requirements

  • Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification
  • Minimum 1 year recent hospital experience as a Respiratory Therapist (ICU/acute care experience preferred)
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Strong clinical skills in ventilator management, airway management, and pulmonary function testing
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team; strong communication and patient education skills
  • State licensure or eligibility for Michigan licensure preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed in a hospital setting
  • Evaluate patients, recommend and implement respiratory treatment plans, and document responses
  • Deliver physician-prescribed treatments using invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen therapy, aerosol devices, and nebulizers
  • Perform chest physiotherapy, suctioning, oximetry and capnography monitoring, and review chest x-rays
  • Conduct 12-lead EKGs, basic arrhythmia recognition, and pulmonary function studies
  • Assist with bronchoscopy, tracheostomy care, chest tube management, and related procedures
  • Perform arterial punctures, monitor ventilation efficiency, and maintain accurate clinical documentation and charging
  • Operate, maintain, and assist with preventive maintenance of ventilators and respiratory equipment
  • Follow laboratory testing protocols, handle specimens, and support quality control efforts
  • Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to BLS and ACLS guidelines and participate in shift hand-offs and interdisciplinary communication
  • Other duties as assigned to support patient care and departmental goals
