Travel Sterile Processing Technician Educator – 13-week contract in Charleston, SC. CRCST/CBSPD required. Join a hospital sterile processing (SPD/CSPD) team to train and mentor sterile processing techs, support surgical services, and ensure instrument sterilization and infection prevention standards.
Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,130 – $1,210
- Location: Charleston, South Carolina (Zip: 29425) — Charleston healthcare job / South Carolina sterile processing job
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (April 20, 2026 – July 20, 2026)
- Shift: Day shift, Monday–Friday, 8-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)
- Hours per Week: 40
- Weekend Requirement: Varies by facility needs
- Travel Contract Type: On-site travel contract
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of sterile processing experience in SPD and/or Operating Room (surgical instrument processing)
- High school diploma or GED equivalency
- Current CRCST (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association) or CBSPD certification required
- Strong knowledge of sterilization principles, autoclave operation, instrument reprocessing, microbiology, and infection prevention
- Familiarity with instrument names, specialty sets, tray assembly, and surgical case cart preparation
- Experience with SPD documentation, tracking systems, and basic computer skills
- Excellent organizational, training, and problem-solving skills; ability to lead as an SPD educator/trainer
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced hospital environment
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as Sterile Processing Tech Educator/Trainer: instruct, mentor, and evaluate sterile processing staff on instrument sterilization and best practices
- Oversee decontamination, sterilization, assembly, and storage processes to maintain compliance with infection prevention and regulatory standards
- Manage specialty set handling, tray assembly, and inventory control to support surgical services
- Maintain accurate SPD documentation, quality control logs, and equipment maintenance records
- Support emergency response teams and participate in facility preparedness during hurricane season (June–November)
- Float within scope to assist other departments or shifts as needed to meet patient care and OR demands
