Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1950 - $2060
- Location: Paducah, KY (42003) — Paducah travel nurse / Kentucky travel nursing opportunity
- Employment Type: Travel Contract (Travel Nurse)
- Duration: 13 weeks (Start: April 13, 2026 – End: July 11, 2026)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Shift: 12 Hour Nights
- Unit Details: 43-bed med/surg telemetry unit (cardiac, oncology, step-down patient population)
- Support Staff: PCT, HUC, Monitor Techs
- Note: Local candidates not accepted — must live more than 50 miles from facility
Qualifications & Job Requirements
- Current RN license in Kentucky or compact state (required) — ideal for travel nurses and telemetry RNs
- BLS certification (required prior to direct patient care)
- ACLS certification (preferred)
- NIH Stroke Certification (preferred)
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience (required); 6 months acute care/hospital experience preferred
- Dysrhythmia exam required at orientation (study guide available) — ability to read cardiac strips required
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments, analyze telemetry and clinical data, and develop individualized care plans
- Administer medications safely and according to hospital policy and medication administration guidelines
- Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry; respond to arrhythmias and acute changes in patient status
- Manage care for patients with cardiac, oncology, and step-down needs, including chest tubes, foleys, and advanced respiratory support (BiPAP, CPAP, high-flow oxygen)
- Coordinate patient care across interdisciplinary teams and hospital departments to ensure smooth transitions and discharge planning
- Serve as a patient safety advocate and participate in quality improvement initiatives and unit-based performance goals
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, and self-care; support coping and shared decision-making
- Respond confidently to rapidly changing patient conditions and escalate care per facility protocols
- Maintain professionalism, compassion, and resilience in a fast-paced med/surg telemetry environment
