Join a dynamic healthcare team as an Interventional Radiology RN (IR RN) at a major teaching hospital in Charleston, West Virginia. Located along the scenic Kanawha River, Charleston offers a vibrant downtown, friendly communities, and easy access to Appalachian outdoor recreation. This travel nurse opportunity is ideal for RNs with interventional radiology experience who want exposure to complex vascular and endovascular procedures in a Level IV Trauma Center.
Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,120 – $2,230
- Location: Charleston, WV 25304 (Charleston, West Virginia travel nursing job)
- Setting: Short Term Acute Care • Major Teaching Hospital • Level IV Trauma Center
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (travel RN contract)
- Start Date: April 16, 2026
- Shift: 4x10-hour day shifts (07:30 – 16:00), weekdays
- On-Call: On call every 5th weekend; average ~5 days/month
- Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours/week
- Patient Population: Adults & Geriatrics (1:1 staffing ratio)
- Orientation: Every other Thursday; first 2 days classroom, then unit-based orientation
- Scrub Color: Royal Blue/White (RN)
- Parking: Free for travelers
Required Qualifications — Interventional Radiology RN / Travel RN
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience with Interventional Radiology (IR) experience required
- Active West Virginia RN license or Compact RN (pending acceptable; must be active to start)
- BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association)
- Minimum 2 manager or charge nurse references within the past 2 years
- Ability to participate in on-call rotation
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (medical exemptions only)
- Travel requirement: permanent address at least 100 miles from facility (75–99 miles case-by-case)
- First-time travel nurses welcome if Interventional Radiology experience is met
- Experience with Cerner electronic charting preferred
Key Responsibilities — Interventional Radiology Nursing
- Provide direct patient care in the Interventional Radiology Lab for adult and geriatric patients
- Assist with specialized vascular and endovascular procedures: angiogram, fistulogram, permacath placement, EVAR, TCAR, TAVR, MitraClip, mechanical thrombectomy, and embolization
- Manage patients with CKD, CAD, PAD, PVD, stenosis, AAA, stroke, aneurysm, and other vascular diagnoses
- Administer and monitor procedural sedation, including assessment of patient response and airway/ventilation status
- Maintain strict infection prevention protocols and isolation precautions
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (IV teams, PT, respiratory services, interventionalists, and support staff)
- Float to CAMC General Lab CDL as needed
- Complete required orientation and specialty modules prior to start
