- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,800 – $1,890
- Location: Dayton, Ohio (45409)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Night shifts, 4x12-hour (19:00 – 07:30); 36 or 48 hours/week available
- Unit: Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CVICU), 36 beds
- Start Date: April 13, 2026
- Patient Ratio: 1:2
- Orientation: 28 hours
- Scrubs: Navy Blue
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of dedicated CVICU/Cardiac ICU experience required (critical care RN experience)
- Level 1 Trauma experience preferred
- Active RN license (any state); Ohio license not required at signing
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS required
- Must pass an online EKG telemetry competency assessment prior to start
- EPIC charting experience required
- Hands-on experience with A-lines, mechanical ventilation, vasoactive drips, sheaths, dialysis, and arterial blood gases (ABGs)
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Previous travel nurse experience preferred, but first-time travelers welcome
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to adult and geriatric cardiac patients as a CVICU Registered Nurse
- Monitor and manage acute cardiac conditions: STEMI/NSTEMI, CHF/heart failure, cardiogenic shock, AFib, chest pain, DVT, cardiac arrest, and sepsis
- Caring for post-op open heart recovery patients, including valve replacement/repair, aneurysm repair, and ARDS proning
- Manage specialized cardiac and critical care equipment: chest tubes, temporary pacers, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), ECMO, Impella, EKOS, and advanced ventilator management
- Administer and titrate vasoactive drips and manage invasive lines and monitoring devices
- Float to other units within the hospital system (main, south, and north campuses) as needed
- Work every other weekend/holiday as scheduled and participate in interdisciplinary rounds
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and case management
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation using EPIC electronic health records
