Job Requirements – OR RN / Perioperative Nurse

• Minimum 2 years of recent Operating Room RN experience (perioperative experience required)
• Valid Maryland RN license or Compact RN license required at time of submission
• BLS certification required
• 16-hour Maryland approved trauma course (required by 27th week)
• 8-hour annual trauma CEUs (required)
• Required: Trauma Level II experience (Trauma Level I preferred)
• Preferred: Previous charge experience and experience with Cerner charting system
• ACLS, NIHSS, PALS certifications preferred
• References required
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)

Operating Room RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, age-appropriate perioperative patient care in the Operating Room
• Serve as circulating nurse and assist across a wide range of surgical specialties: Trauma, ENT, Colorectal, Plastics, Neurosurgery, Surgical Oncology, Oral/Dental, Laparoscopic, Urology, Ophthalmology, GYN, General, Orthopedics, Robotics, Vascular, Thoracic
• Operate and support advanced surgical technology including the da Vinci robot (robotic surgery experience a plus)
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (Respiratory Services, Radiology, Pharmacy, anesthesia, surgical techs) to ensure coordinated care
• Maintain infection control, laser and radiation safety, specimen handling, and strict adherence to universal protocol
• Act as a resource and advisor for patients and families regarding perioperative care
• Participate in weekend coverage and call as needed per unit requirements
