Position Summary

Join a high-performing critical care team at a leading Level 1 Trauma Center and teaching hospital in Libertyville, Illinois (near Chicago). We are seeking an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a 9-week travel contract. This travel respiratory therapist role supports neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients in a fast-paced ICU and critical care environment.

Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,870 – $2,010
• Location: Libertyville, IL 60048 (Chicago area / Lake County, Illinois)
• Facility: Level 1 Trauma Center, Level II NICU, Magnet-designated, Teaching Hospital
• Contract Duration: 9 weeks (Start: May 11, 2026 – End: July 11, 2026)
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week
• Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
• Patient Ratio: 1:1
• Scrub Color: Charcoal Gray
• Parking: Free

Required Qualifications (Respiratory Therapist / RRT)

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required (CRT accepted upon review)
• Active Illinois Respiratory Care license
• Minimum 2 years of RT experience across pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations—critical care or ICU experience preferred
• Current BLS, ACLS (AHA), PALS, and NRP certifications
• EPIC charting experience required
• Experience with tracheostomy care, proning, ECMO support, ventilator management, VAP prevention, spontaneous breathing trials, ABG draws, and nitrous oxide procedures
• First-time travel respiratory therapists will be considered

Key Responsibilities (Travel Respiratory Therapist)

• Deliver respiratory care services to neonates, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients in ICU and acute care settings
• Manage ventilators, perform ABG draws, participate in spontaneous breathing trials, and implement VAP prevention protocols
• Provide tracheostomy care, assist with proning, support ECMO teams, and administer nitrous oxide procedures as needed
• Document patient care and interventions in EPIC accurately and timely
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, nurses, and ECMO specialists in a fast-paced critical care environment
• Float to other hospitals within the system when requested
• Complete a 1-day unit orientation
