Cardiac Stepdown RN Requirements (Telemetry / PCU)
- Minimum 2 years recent experience in cardiac stepdown, telemetry, or progressive care (PCU)
- Experience in large facility and teaching hospital settings preferred
- Prior travel nursing experience preferred (travel RN / contract nurse)
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in required state
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (NIHSS required prior to start)
- EPIC EMR experience within the past 2 years — required and nonnegotiable
- Willingness to float to other units within Central Pool PCU (medical/surgical and other progressive care areas)
- Flexible scheduling required; no block schedules permitted
- Reliable transportation required (public transportation is not accessible in this area)
- Vehicle should be equipped with all-season or snow tires November–April
Primary Responsibilities — Cardiac/Telemetry Nursing
- Provide high-quality nursing care to cardiac stepdown and telemetry patients, including post-cath, STEMI, and structural heart cases
- Monitor and assess patient conditions, administer medications, and manage telemetry monitoring
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (cardiology, case management, respiratory therapy) to coordinate patient care
- Document care accurately and efficiently using EPIC EMR
- Float to medical/surgical or other progressive care areas as needed within the Central Pool PCU
- Participate in bi-weekly orientation and ongoing professional development for travel nursing staff
- Maintain compliance with facility protocols, regulatory standards, and quality initiatives
