Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse (Travel RN) – 13-week assignment in Memphis, TN (38104). Night shift role at a Level I Trauma Center caring for telemetry, med-surg overflow, and cardiovascular (CV) patients. - Setting: Cardiac Stepdown / Med-Surg Overflow / CV Services (Telemetry)
- Facility: Short Term Acute Care, Level I Trauma Center
- Contract Length: 13 weeks (April 20, 2026 – July 20, 2026)
- Shift: Night, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00 – 07:00); 36 or 48 hours/week (schedule may change during interview)
- Patient Ratio: 1:6 (team nursing ratios)
- Weekend / On-Call: As needed
- Role Type: Travel Registered Nurse / Travel RN – Cardiac Stepdown / Telemetry Nurse
Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years recent Cardiac Stepdown or Med-Surg experience (3+ years preferred)
- At least 1 completed previous travel assignment; first-time travelers not accepted
- Level I Trauma and large hospital experience required
- Active RN license in Tennessee or multistate compact RN license; pending licenses not accepted
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- Clinical Skills: Telemetry monitoring, IV start, cardiac patient care, med-surg clinical competencies
- Electronic charting: Cerner experience preferred
- Must live at least 100 miles from facility (local candidates not accepted)
- Flu vaccine required (no exemptions); compliance with NLC and facility policies required
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to Cardiac Stepdown patients with cardiac, pulmonary, and complex medical conditions
- Monitor and assess patient status using bedside and telemetry monitoring; administer medications and perform nursing interventions
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including Respiratory Therapy, Physical Therapy, Radiology, Pharmacy, Social Services, and Rapid Response
- Maintain accurate documentation and comply with facility policies and quality initiatives
- Participate in process improvement projects to enhance patient care and customer satisfaction
- Float between like units and campuses within a 20-mile radius as needed
- Be flexible with scheduling, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required
