• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,890 - $1,990
• Location: Milwaukee, WI 53215 (Milwaukee healthcare, Wisconsin travel nurse opportunities)
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (April 13, 2026 – July 11, 2026)
• Shift: 12-hour Day Shifts (36 hours/week)
• Unit: Med Surg: IU 4KLM Neuro (neuroscience / neurology nursing)
• Patient Ratio: Day: Ideally 3-4, up to 5
• Orientation: 1 shift unit training plus onboarding
• Parking: Free, with 24/7 security and winter shuttle services

Qualifications & Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of recent Neuro RN or neurology nursing experience (stroke, neuro post-op, spine)
• Active RN license (Wisconsin or compact state) — travel nurse licensure required for Milwaukee, WI
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• EPIC charting experience preferred (electronic medical record experience)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for neuro patients: craniectomies, strokes, TIAs, seizures, syncope, dementia, and spine surgeries (fusions, discectomy)
• Manage general medical overflow: wounds, chest pain, COVID, sepsis, pneumonia, COPD, CHF, GI bleeds, cellulitis — broad med-surg clinical support
• Perform focused neuro checks, wound care, wound vac management, trach care, incision and drain/tube management, BiPAP, HFNC, and post-surgical recovery
• Utilize preferred procedural skills: chest tubes, lumbar drains, advanced IV skills, and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Document and evaluate pain levels before and after medication administration to ensure compliance with pain management protocols
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including hospitalists, respiratory therapy, unit secretaries, and centralized telemetry monitoring
• Float to MSU, Tele, COVID, MS Overflow, and ED Holding as needed
• Participate in weekend rotation (every other weekend) and meet holiday coverage expectations
