Travel Nurse Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,750 - $1,840 (Competitive travel nurse pay)
- Location: Columbia, SC 29203 — Columbia healthcare jobs / South Carolina nursing jobs
- Setting: Neuro Surgical Intensive Care Unit (NSICU) — Neuro ICU / critical care RN role
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (April 27, 2026 – July 27, 2026)
- Shift: 12-hour days (07:00 – 19:30), 3 shifts per week
- Patient Ratio: 2:1
- Weekend Coverage: Required (6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule)
- Orientation: 16 hours
Travel Nurse Qualifications / Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent Neuro ICU experience — required for Neuro ICU travel nurses
- Experience in large hospitals (300+ beds)
- Strong experience caring for patients with EVDs/lumbar drains and subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH)
- Competency in NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) assessment
- Minimum 1 year of experience with EPIC EMR
- Active RN license (South Carolina or compact)
- Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
Neuro ICU Travel Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide specialized critical care for ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke patients, post-op neurosurgery patients, and those undergoing neurovascular interventions
- Maintain and monitor external ventricular drains (EVDs), lumbar drains, and intracranial pressure (ICP)
- Assess and manage arterial blood gases, ventilator settings, and cardiac/vasoactive drips
- Administer blood products, manage central/PICC lines, and perform wound care
- Accurately document patient care using EPIC EMR and complete NIHSS assessments as indicated
- Float to other qualified units or campuses as needed (flexible travel nurse assignments)
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV team, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response
- Adhere to infection prevention and isolation precautions and unit policies
