- Position: Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) / Telemetry RN / Progressive Care RN (Travel)
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130 - $2,250
- Location: A leading academic medical center in Madison, WI — Wisconsin travel nursing opportunity
- Contract Length: 13 weeks (May 4, 2026 – August 3, 2026)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00pm – 7:30am), Monday–Friday, every other weekend and some holidays required
- Setting: IMC Acute Med/Progressive Care and IMC Thoracic units (Cardiac Stepdown / Telemetry)
Qualifications / Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years acute care RN experience in the specialty within the last 3 years (Cardiac Stepdown / Telemetry / Progressive Care)
- Travel RN experience required — prior travel nursing assignments preferred
- WI RN or compact RN license (must be in hand at submittal)
- ACLS and BLS (AHA) certifications required
- Medical-Surgical / Telemetry (MS/Tele) experience required
- Ventilator and transplant (post-lung transplant) experience required
- Experience in an Academic Level I or II trauma center or similar large hospital
- Epic electronic medical record (EMR) experience required
- Must pass telemetry exam prior to start (strict criteria)
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
Key Responsibilities (Cardiac Stepdown / Telemetry RN)
- Provide comprehensive, specialized nursing care to acutely ill adult patients with multiple comorbidities and hemodynamic instability in a cardiac stepdown/telemetry setting
- Care for specialty pulmonary and thoracic populations including cystic fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension, and post-lung transplant patients
- Manage telemetry monitoring, cardiac drips, ventilator care, arterial lines, and hemodialysis coordination
- Perform advanced nursing skills: IV/central line and PICC management, phlebotomy, feeding tube management, insulin IV protocols, wound care, and procedural sedation
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams (IV Team, Respiratory Therapy, PT/OT, Dialysis, Pharmacy) in a fast-paced Level I Trauma Center
- Float between IMC Acute Med/Progressive Care and IMC Thoracic units as needed
- Participate in weekend and holiday rotations as required
