Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,460 – $1,540
- Location: Tyler, TX 75701 – East Texas travel nursing job (Tyler, Smith County)
- Unit: 3 South – Neuro Medical Surgical (19 private rooms, telemetry & oximetry monitoring)
- Shift: 3x12-hour nights (19:00 – 07:00)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (April 20, 2026 – July 20, 2026)
- Patient Ratio: 1:6
- Travel Assignment: Applicants must not reside in certain nearby counties (see requirements)
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent Neuro RN experience (neurology, neurosurgical, or neuro med-surg nursing)
- Travel nursing experience preferred (travel nurse Neuro RN)
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- BLS certification (AHA)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record (Epic charting)
- Telemetry/telemetry interpretation experience preferred
- Applicants must not reside in the following Texas counties: Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, and Morris
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive neuro nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with medical, surgical, neurology, and neurosurgical diagnoses
- Monitor patients using telemetry and oximetry equipment; interpret dysrhythmias and manage telemetry (on-unit and remote)
- Perform feeding tube care and management, pre/post hemodialysis care, and port access/management
- Monitor and manage chemotherapy administration when applicable, non-invasive airway support, tracheostomy care, and MS/telemetry patients
- Respond to rapid response and code teams as needed
- Administer blood products and manage central and peripheral lines, including PICC lines and IV therapy
- Follow heparin protocols, manage PCA, high-flow nasal cannula, oxygen therapy, and adhere to isolation precautions/PPE
- Provide wound care and wound vac management
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Pharmacy, Case Management, and Social Work
