Job Details
- Position: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Registered Nurse – Travel Nurse
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,640 – $1,730
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (April 20, 2026 – July 20, 2026)
- Shift: Rotating 3x12-hour shifts (Days: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM; Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) in 4-week block rotations (50/50 days & nights)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
- Unit: 28-bed PICU providing intensive and intermediate care for patients ages 0–18
- Patient Ratios: 1:1, 1:2, 1:3 (mixed ICU and Stepdown patients)
- Charting/EHR: EPIC electronic health record experience preferred
- Facility: Level I Trauma Center — Charleston, South Carolina (Charleston SC travel nursing opportunity)
Job Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of PICU RN experience required (2 years preferred) — pediatric ICU experience strongly preferred
- Valid South Carolina RN license or Multi-State/Compact RN license (active or pending with proof of application)
- BLS and PALS certifications (American Heart Association only)
- Experience with ECMO and CRRT preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- EPIC charting experience preferred
- Ability to float within scope to meet facility needs
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality critical care nursing to critically ill pediatric patients with medical and surgical diagnoses, including trauma, respiratory compromise, neurology/neurosurgery, and post-operative care
- Provide advanced therapies and support including ECMO, CRRT, ventilatory and cardiac support, and renal/peritoneal dialysis
- Monitor and manage complex patient conditions: hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, vasoactive drips, and administration of blood products
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including Respiratory Therapy, Pediatric Dietitians, Pharmacists, and Rapid Response Teams to ensure coordinated patient care
- Float to other units within scope as needed to support facility operations and patient safety
- Participate in emergency response teams (including hurricane season readiness, June–November)
- Maintain accurate documentation using the EPIC electronic health record and adhere to infection control and PPE protocols
