Travel PICU Registered Nurse (RN) – Charleston, SC | 13-week travel nursing contract. Provide high-acuity pediatric critical care at a Level I Trauma Center in Charleston, South Carolina.   • Travel Assignment: Travel nurse position—licensure must be active or pending

Required Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of PICU RN experience required (2 years preferred) — pediatric critical care nursing experience preferred
  • Valid South Carolina RN license or Multi-State/Compact RN license (active or pending with proof of application)
  • BLS and PALS certifications (American Heart Association only)
  • Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ECMO and CRRT (preferred for pediatric ICU RN roles)
  • Previous charge nurse or leadership experience preferred
  • EPIC charting experience preferred
  • Ability to float within scope to meet facility needs

Key Responsibilities (Pediatric ICU RN / PICU Travel Nurse)

  • Deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients (ages 0–18) with medical and surgical diagnoses, including trauma, respiratory compromise, post-op care, neurology/neurosurgery, and transplant cases
  • Monitor and manage ventilatory and cardiac support, including ECMO, CRRT, and dialysis therapies where indicated
  • Perform complex supportive therapies and interventions such as central venous pressure monitoring, ICP monitoring, phlebotomy, procedural sedation, and management of chest tubes, tracheostomies, and ventilated patients
  • Administer medications and blood products, manage IVs, TPN/lipids, and anti-seizure medications
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, dietitians, pharmacists, and rapid response/transport teams
  • Participate in self-scheduling and block rotations, ensuring coverage for weekends and holidays as required
  • Maintain infection control standards and adhere to isolation precautions
  • Float to other units within scope as needed to support facility operations
