Cardiac Stepdown RN (Travel Nurse) – Hickory, NC: 13-week night shift in the Neuro Progressive Care Unit (NPCU) at a leading regional medical center. Join a dynamic healthcare team providing advanced cardiac, neuro, and surgical care in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,800 – $1,890
- Location: Hickory, NC 28601 (Hickory, North Carolina / Western North Carolina)
- Position: Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nurse
- Setting: Neuro Progressive Care Unit (Cardiac Stepdown / Telemetry)
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (April 27, 2026 – July 27, 2026)
- Shift: 12-hour nights (19:00 – 07:00)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Patient Population: Adult & Geriatric (cardiac, post-stroke, neuro-surgery)
- Electronic Health Record: Cerner (Cerner experience required)
- Travel Requirement: Travel candidates must reside 60 miles or more from Hickory, NC
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in North Carolina or compact state (Registered Nurse license)
- Minimum 1 year recent clinical experience in Cardiac Stepdown, Neuro Progressive Care, Telemetry, or similar unit
- Experience with Cerner EHR required (documentation and charting)
- BLS certification (AHA); advanced cardiac certifications preferred
- Ability to float to Medical, Telemetry, and Neon units as needed (flexible travel nurse)
- Strong cardiac telemetry monitoring and assessment skills; familiarity with cardiac rhythms and post-op neuro care
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality bedside nursing care for adult and geriatric cardiac, neuro, and telemetry patients
- Monitor cardiac rhythms, interpret telemetry, and respond to changes in patient condition
- Manage medication administration, IV therapies, and cardiac-specific treatments per policy
- Perform neuro and cardiac assessments, post-stroke and post-op neuro monitoring, and timely interventions
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (physicians, therapists, case managers) to develop and implement individualized patient care plans
- Accurately document patient care and assessments in Cerner EHR
- Maintain a safe, supportive environment and participate in unit orientation and ongoing training
