Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,730 – $1,860
- Location: Charleston, SC (zip 29401) — Charleston respiratory therapist / South Carolina respiratory therapy jobs
- Setting: Pediatric Respiratory Therapy Unit (NICU, PICU exposure; Level 1 Trauma hospital)
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (April 20, 2026 – July 20, 2026)
- Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) — pediatric night shift respiratory therapist
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Rotation: Required
- On-Call: Not required
- Charting: Epic (electronic medical record experience preferred)
- Scrub Color: Caribbean Blue
Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with pediatric, neonate, and infant respiratory care experience
- RRT credential (NBRC)
- Active South Carolina Respiratory Care Provider (RCP) license at start of contract
- BLS, PALS, and NRP certifications required
- Epic charting experience preferred (electronic medical record / EMR experience)
- Experience in Level 1 Trauma, NICU, PICU, or pediatric critical care settings preferred
- First-time travel respiratory therapists accepted — travel RT / travel respiratory therapist jobs encouraged to apply
Responsibilities
- Provide skilled respiratory care to neonates, infants, children, adolescents, and pediatric patients in acute and critical care settings
- Manage pediatric and neonatal ventilators, perform ventilator management, weaning, and extubation
- Perform specialized procedures such as bronchoscopy assistance, airway management, and other pediatric critical care interventions
- Deliver evidence-based clinical respiratory care, including CPAP/BiPAP, high?frequency ventilation, and aerosol therapy
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (physicians, nurses, RTs, and allied health) to optimize patient outcomes
- Float within scope to meet facility needs based on experience
- Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and follow facility protocols, including emergency response and hurricane season (June–November) procedures
- Participate in scheduled holiday and weekend rotations
