Join a dedicated neonatal care team in the heart of the Rocky Mountains! We are seeking an experienced NICU RN / Neonatal Nurse for a 13-week travel assignment in Steamboat Springs, Colorado (80487). This travel nursing opportunity offers Level II NICU experience and hands-on neonatal nursing in a supportive community hospital setting. Steamboat Springs is renowned for breathtaking scenery, outdoor recreation (skiing, hiking, hot springs), and a welcoming mountain community.

- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130 - $2,250
- Location: Steamboat Springs, CO 80487 — Colorado travel nurse / Colorado nursing jobs
- Position: NICU RN (Level II NICU) / Neonatal Nurse
- Setting: 10-bed unit with 5 labor rooms and 5 postpartum rooms (community hospital)
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (travel nursing assignment)
- Start Date: April 20, 2026
- Shift: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (19:00 - 07:30), various days of the week
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekend Requirement: Minimum 5 weekend night shifts per month
- On-Call: As required by unit needs
- Charting: Epic (EPIC experience required) — experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems preferred
Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of Level II NICU experience or greater — neonatal nursing and newborn transition experience required
- Experience in newborn transition nursing, postpartum care, and caring for infants >= 32 weeks
- Registered Nurse (RN) license — active and in good standing (state of practice licensure required for travel nurse)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
- STABLE certification preferred
- Ability to work independently in the NICU and manage postpartum couplets when census is low
- Experience with Epic charting system and clinical documentation
- Community hospital experience required — prior travel nursing or perinatal experience is a plus
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality neonatal care to infants (32 weeks and older) in a Level II NICU — hands-on neonatal nursing, newborn care, and family-centered care
- Manage postpartum couplets as needed and deliver family-centered newborn education and support
- Perform advanced NICU procedures including invasive hemodynamic monitoring, blood glucose monitoring, phototherapy, IV therapy/administration, and ventilator management
- Assist with special procedures such as lumbar puncture and chest tube management
- Administer blood products, antibiotics, antivirals, surfactants, steroids, and IV vasopressors per protocol
- Conduct APGAR scoring, neonatal assessments, thermoregulation, and patient/family education
- Float between like units as required to meet facility needs and participate in perinatal team collaboration
- Participate in on-call rotation per unit requirements — adaptable travel nurse schedule required
