Job Details – OR Nurse / Travel RN
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,750 - $1,840
- Location: San Antonio, TX (Zip: 78209) — San Antonio nursing jobs / Texas travel nursing
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (April 20, 2026 – July 19, 2026)
- Shift: 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts (07:00 – 17:30)
- Setting: Operating Room – Ortho, Neuro, Plastics, ENT, Robotics (perioperative & surgical nurse roles)
- Employment Type: Travel, Full Time (travel nurse / travel RN)
OR RN Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience in the Operating Room or related perioperative nursing specialty
- Active RN license in Texas or compact state
- BLS certification (AHA only)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- EPIC experience highly preferred
- Perioperative nursing certification (e.g., CNOR) is a plus
Perioperative / Surgical Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide routine and complex perioperative care to surgical patients across ortho, neuro, plastics, ENT, and robotic cases
- Perform both scrub and circulating nurse duties as needed; assist with robotic-assisted procedures and specialty instrumentation
- Practice independently while demonstrating comprehensive awareness of patient care, safety, and sterile technique
- Apply the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for perioperative patients
- Administer medications and intraoperative treatments; monitor for side effects and effectiveness
- Document patient history, intraoperative events, symptoms, medications, and nursing care in the medical record
- Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers regarding pre- and post-operative care
- Make appropriate assignments and delegate tasks to other care team members; collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and OR staff
- Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
