PCU Registered Nurse (RN) – travel nursing job in Washington, DC (20007) with competitive weekly pay and a 13-week contract. Join a dynamic Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / stepdown team and care for telemetry and intermediate care (IMC) patients in a renowned medical facility near the Potomac River.
Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,730 – $1,820 (competitive travel nursing pay)
- Location: Washington, DC 20007 — travel nursing assignment in the nation's capital
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour (19:00 – 07:30)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN), On-site
- Start Date: April 13, 2026
Job Requirements (PCU / Telemetry / Stepdown Nurse)
- Minimum 2 years of recent PCU/IMC/Stepdown or telemetry nursing experience
- Travel nursing experience required
- Active DC Registered Nurse (RN) license (must be in hand at time of submission)
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications; NIHSS certification required
- Successful completion of Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam (?80% overall; 100% on lethal rhythms)
- Experience with Cerner electronic health record (EHR) charting system
- Ability to float as needed and provide every-other-weekend coverage
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for admitted and boarding patients with varied diagnoses while awaiting inpatient placement
- Manage cardiac telemetry and stepdown/IMC patient populations as a telemetry nurse / PCU nurse
- Interpret and manage dysrhythmias and participate in rapid response and code team protocols
- Administer blood products and follow IV insulin and heparin protocols per facility policy
- Perform wound care, surgical drain management, and oxygen therapy
- Care for patients with neurology/stroke, orthopedics, oncology, transplant, end-stage liver/kidney disease, and gastroenterology diagnoses
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including PT/OT, respiratory therapy, radiology, pharmacy, and social work
- Maintain isolation precautions, PPE standards, and safe infection-control practices
