PCU Registered Nurse (RN) – travel nursing job in Washington, DC (20007) with competitive weekly pay and a 13-week contract. Join a dynamic Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / stepdown team and care for telemetry and intermediate care (IMC) patients in a renowned medical facility near the Potomac River.

Job Details

  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,730 – $1,820 (competitive travel nursing pay)
  • Location: Washington, DC 20007 — travel nursing assignment in the nation's capital
  • Contract Duration: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour (19:00 – 07:30)
  • Hours per Week: 36

Job Requirements (PCU / Telemetry / Stepdown Nurse)

  • Minimum 2 years of recent PCU/IMC/Stepdown or telemetry nursing experience
  • Travel nursing experience required
  • Active DC Registered Nurse (RN) license (must be in hand at time of submission)
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications; NIHSS certification required
  • Successful completion of Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam (?80% overall; 100% on lethal rhythms)
  • Experience with Cerner electronic health record (EHR) charting system
  • Ability to float as needed and provide every-other-weekend coverage

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care for admitted and boarding patients with varied diagnoses while awaiting inpatient placement
  • Manage cardiac telemetry and stepdown/IMC patient populations as a telemetry nurse / PCU nurse
  • Interpret and manage dysrhythmias and participate in rapid response and code team protocols
  • Administer blood products and follow IV insulin and heparin protocols per facility policy
  • Perform wound care, surgical drain management, and oxygen therapy
  • Care for patients with neurology/stroke, orthopedics, oncology, transplant, end-stage liver/kidney disease, and gastroenterology diagnoses
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including PT/OT, respiratory therapy, radiology, pharmacy, and social work
  • Maintain isolation precautions, PPE standards, and safe infection-control practices
