Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130 - $2,250
- Location: Madison, WI 53792 (Madison nursing jobs / Wisconsin travel nursing)
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (May 4, 2026 – August 3, 2026)
- Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00pm – 7:30am), Monday–Friday; every other weekend and some holidays required
- Hours per Week: 36
- Setting: IMC Acute Med/Progressive Care & IMC Thoracic (Cardiac Stepdown / Telemetry / Progressive Care RN)
- Patient Ratio: 1:3 (Nights/Weekends)
- Orientation: Approximately 1 week
Required Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) — Wisconsin RN or compact RN license required (must be in hand at submission)
- Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty (Telemetry/PCU/Stepdown)
- Travel RN experience required
- Experience in an Academic Level I or II trauma center or similar-size hospital preferred
- Telemetry, oncology, cardiac, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience required
- Ventilator and transplant experience required (post-lung transplant, cystic fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension)
- BLS & ACLS certifications (AHA only)
- Epic charting system experience required
- Must pass Telemetry exam prior to start (see Telemetry Exam Criteria below)
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
Telemetry Exam Criteria: 100% identification of lethal rhythms, no incorrect answers on 3rd degree heart block questions, 80%+ passing score. Two attempts allowed; remediation required for third attempt.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive, specialized nursing care to acutely ill adult patients with multiple comorbidities and hemodynamic instability
- Monitor and interpret telemetry and complex cardiac rhythms as a Telemetry RN / Cardiac Stepdown RN
- Manage ventilated patients and provide post-transplant care for lung transplant patients
- Administer and titrate cardiac drips, insulin protocols, and blood products
- Perform wound care, manage surgical drains, and provide tracheostomy care
- Care for specialty populations including cystic fibrosis and pulmonary hypertension patients
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (IV therapy, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, rapid response)
- Float between IMC Acute Med/Progressive Care and IMC Thoracic units as needed
- Participate in weekend and holiday rotations to support consistent patient care
