Job Details – Travel Nursing Opportunity in Madison, WI
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130 - $2,250
- Location: Madison, WI 53792 (University Hospital)
- Role: Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse / Telemetry RN (Travel RN)
- Setting: IMC Acute Med/Progressive Care (PCU/IMC) and IMC Thoracic units
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (May 4, 2026 – August 3, 2026)
- Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts (7:00pm – 7:30am), Monday–Friday with every other weekend and some holidays required
- Hours per Week: 36
- Patient Ratio: 1:3 nights
- Orientation: Approximately 1 week
Job Requirements – Cardiac Stepdown RN / Telemetry RN
- Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience within the last 3 years in cardiac stepdown, IMC, PCU, or progressive care unit (preferred)
- Travel RN experience required (previous travel nursing assignments preferred)
- Experience in a Level I or II Trauma Center or similar-size hospital
- Telemetry, oncology, cardiac, and stepdown experience required
- Experience caring for ventilated and transplant patients required
- WI RN or Compact RN license required (must be in hand at submission)
- BLS & ACLS (AHA) required
- Epic electronic health record (EHR) charting experience required
- Must pass hospital telemetry exam prior to start (see Telemetry Exam Requirement below)
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
Responsibilities – Cardiac & Telemetry Nursing
- Provide comprehensive, specialized nursing care to acutely ill adult patients with multiple comorbidities, including cardiac, oncology, and post-transplant diagnoses
- Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry, identify dysrhythmias, and manage rapid response/code situations
- Manage ventilated patients and care for arterial lines, PICC lines, and central lines
- Administer and titrate cardiac drips, insulin drips, and blood products according to protocols
- Perform wound care, manage surgical drains, and provide pre/post hemodialysis patient management when needed
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, IV team, physical therapy, pharmacy, and social services
- Float between IMC Acute Med/Progressive Care and IMC Thoracic units as needed
- Participate in weekend and holiday rotations as scheduled
Telemetry Exam Requirement: Must achieve 100% identification of lethal rhythms and a passing score of 80% or higher within two attempts. Failure to pass may result in contract cancellation.
