• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: April 20, 2026
• Shift: 3x12 Hour Days (07:30 - 20:00)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Unit: CVICU / Cardiovascular ICU (8 beds, average daily census 6)
• Patient Ratio: 1:2 (1:1 for first 12 hours post-op)
• Patient Age Range: Adults - Geriatrics
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend required
• Holiday Coverage: As scheduled
• Floating: Required within specialty and to IMC (1:3 ratio)

Job Requirements / Qualifications

• Active RN license in Maryland or Compact State (travel nurse licensure)
• BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA only)
• Minimum 1 year of CVICU or cardiac ICU experience required
• Will consider first-time travelers with 2+ years of open heart / post?op cardiac surgery experience
• Experience with Epic electronic charting system preferred
• Ability to float within hospital and to sister facilities as needed
• References: 2 satisfactory professional references from most recent employers (1 supervisor/manager and 1 charge RN)
• Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
• CPI certification may be required (The Calm Every Storm online version only)
• Locals must reside at least 50 miles from facility

Responsibilities — Cardiovascular / Critical Care Nursing

• Provide immediate post?operative care for cardiac surgery patients (CABG, valve repair/replacement, peripheral bypasses, EVAR, VATS)
• Manage advanced cardiovascular devices: IABP, Impella, FloTrac, CRRT, arterial lines, and groin/radial artery management
• Perform hemodynamic monitoring and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias, arterial blood gases (ABGs), and ventilator settings
• Administer blood products, emergency medications, and IV insulin protocols per hospital policy
• Care for mechanically ventilated patients, including high flow nasal cannula and BiPAP/CPAP support
• Assist with chest tube insertion/removal, wound management, and post?op chest care
• Maintain infection prevention, isolation precautions, and patient safety protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• Float to IMC and other units within scope as needed
