Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Histo Tech, Histotechnologist, or Histology Technician in a clinical or laboratory/pathology setting
• Relevant certification or training in histotechnology preferred (ASCP HT/HTL preferred)
• Familiarity with tissue processing, paraffin embedding, microtomy, and routine staining (H&E) — experience with special stains or immunohistochemistry (IHC) is a plus
• Knowledge of laboratory safety, quality control, and documentation standards (CLIA/CAP awareness helpful)
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with pathologists and clinic staff
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and excellent communication

Responsibilities

• Prepare and process tissue samples for microscopic examination and diagnosis for a busy clinic/pathology lab
• Perform routine and specialized histological procedures including tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment to ensure proper functioning
• Follow all laboratory safety, infection control, and quality control protocols
• Collaborate closely with clinic staff and pathologists to deliver accurate, timely results
• Document and report findings, maintain clear records, and adhere to clinic and regulatory standards
