Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) travel opportunity — Night shift, 12-hour schedule, 16-week contract in Indianapolis, IN. Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1800 - $1890
- Location: Indianapolis, IN — Indianapolis nursing jobs / Indiana travel nurse
- Unit: 3 West Post-Surgical (Med/Surg)
- Shift: 12-hour nights (19:00-07:30), rotating days, 3 shifts per week — Night Shift Travel RN
- Duration: 16 weeks (Start: 4/6/2026 – End: 7/27/2026)
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
- Weekend/Holiday: Every 3rd weekend, rotating holidays
- Dress Code: Navy Blue scrubs
Job Requirements
- Active RN license (Registered Nurse)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- Minimum 1 year Med/Surg or post-surgical RN experience — Med Surg RN experience preferred
- Epic EMR experience preferred (Epic documentation skills helpful for travel nurse assignments)
- Experience with drains and post-op care, bariatric and general surgery post-op management
- Strong teamwork, flexibility, and time management skills for clinical support and multidisciplinary care
- Ability to float to similar Med/Surg units as needed
- Completion of assigned education modules prior to first shift
Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered care to post-op patients from general and bariatric surgery and to overflow medical patients
- Maintain patient ratios of approximately 1:5 in a 34-bed Med/Surg unit
- Use Pyxis for medication administration and Epic EMR for accurate documentation
- Collaborate with physicians, charge nurses, and the multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Advocate for patients, demonstrating strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Float to similar Med/Surg units based on rotation and unit needs, supporting clinical operations across the floor
- Follow facility policies, safety protocols, and dress code
