- Position: Travel ICU Registered Nurse / Neuro ICU RN
- Setting: 18-bed Neuroscience ICU, Comprehensive Stroke Center
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Travel RN assignment)
- Start Dates: 4/20/2026, 5/4/2026, or 5/18/2026
- Shift: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (19:00 - 07:30); every other weekend and some holidays required
- Hours per Week: 36
- Employment Type: Travel RN / Travel Nurse (ICU nurse job)
Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the past 3 years in ICU/neuro specialty (Neuro ICU RN or critical care RN experience required)
- Hands-on experience managing ICP monitors or ventriculostomy (ICP / ventric experience required)
- Epic electronic charting system experience required
- Wisconsin RN license or Compact RN (must be in hand at submission for Travel RN positions)
- AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Basic arrhythmia interpretation experience required
- Must pass Telemetry test prior to start (strict criteria)
- Travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
- Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized neurocritical care for critically ill adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses such as stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage, post-op neurosurgery, traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord injury
- Perform hemodynamic monitoring, manage hypothermia protocols, and care for ICP/ventricular drains
- Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, IV insulin protocols, and emergency medications (critical care nursing skills)
- Manage arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, and ports
- Care for mechanically ventilated patients (ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula)
- Interpret arterial blood gases and dysrhythmias; provide basic arrhythmia management
- Assist with chest tube insertion/removal and procedural sedation
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
- Maintain infection prevention, isolation precautions, and unit safety protocols
- Float to other units as needed based on staffing requirements
