- Unit: Neuroscience ICU (18 beds; Comprehensive Stroke Center)
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Travel nurse assignment)
- Shift: Nights — 3 x 12-hour (19:00 - 07:30); every other weekend and some holidays
- Hours per Week: 36
- Start Dates: 4/20, 5/4, or 5/18/2026
- Job Type: Travel RN, ICU Registered Nurse, Neuro ICU RN
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years acute care experience within the past 3 years in Neuro ICU or medical/surgical ICU (Neuro critical care experience preferred)
- Experience with ICP monitoring and ventriculostomy (EVD) required
- Epic electronic charting experience required
- Basic arrhythmia interpretation required (must pass Telemetry test prior to start)
- WI RN or compact RN license required (must be in hand at submittal)
- AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Previous travel nurse experience required (no first-time travelers)
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality care to critically ill adult and geriatric patients with neurologic diagnoses, including ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage, post-neurosurgery, TBI, and spinal cord injury
- Perform specialized neurocritical care interventions: ICP monitoring, ventricular drain (EVD) and lumbar drain management, hypothermia protocols, and post-craniotomy care
- Manage hemodynamics and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips; interpret and treat dysrhythmias and administer emergency medications
- Care for ventilated patients including ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, and arterial blood gas (ABG) interpretation
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, social work, and rapid response teams
- Float to other units as staffing needs require; maintain infection prevention and isolation precautions
