Qualifications / Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg nursing experience (medical-surgical RN experience)
- BLS certification required
- Ability to function independently in the Special Care Unit within 18 months
- Experience with pediatric through geriatric patient populations preferred
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and document patient physical condition each shift; monitor for changes and notify physician as appropriate
- Conduct initial patient interviews and develop individualized care plans for medical-surgical and ER patients
- Provide safe, high-quality nursing care across pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations in a Critical Access Hospital
- Respond to emergencies and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff
- Initiate and document patient education, teaching interventions, and evaluate understanding
- Coordinate discharge planning with patients, families, and the care team
- Perform treatments, nursing interventions, and administer medications per standards of care
- Document all interventions and patient condition following treatments and procedures
- Evaluate patient progress related to care plans and physician orders to ensure safe discharge and continuity of care
- Attend and participate in acute care nursing staff meetings, trauma meetings, and departmental meetings
- Engage in performance improvement activities, competency validation, and continuing education
- Collaborate with medical staff to facilitate progress toward patient goals
- Maintain monthly barcode scanning compliance
