- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,180 - $2,290
- Position: Travel CVICU Registered Nurse (Travel RN) – Cardiac ICU / Critical Care RN
- Location: Leading hospital in Madison, WI
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Hours per Week: 36
- Shift: Rotating Day/Night, 12-hour shifts (07:00–19:30 & 19:00–07:30), every other weekend, some holidays, no call
- Start Dates: 4/20, 5/4, or 5/18/2026
Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care CVICU / Cardiac ICU experience within the last 3 years (critical care RN experience required)
- Travel RN experience required (prior travel nurse assignments preferred)
- Wisconsin or compact RN license (must be in hand at submission)
- AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Basic Arrhythmia experience required; must pass Telemetry test prior to start
- Experience and knowledge of NextStage CVVH machine required (CRRT experience preferred)
- Trauma Level I experience required
- Epic electronic health record (EHR) charting experience required
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Locals (within 50 miles) are not accepted
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized cardiac and cardiothoracic critical care for patients undergoing cardiac and thoracic surgeries, heart and lung transplants, and advanced cardiac medical procedures
- Manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure, including use of CRRT (NxStage), IABP, Impella, HM3 LVAD, ECMO, and Zoll Thermoguard
- Interpret and manage dysrhythmias, perform 12-lead EKG/ECG, and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Care for ventilated patients, fresh tracheostomies, and those requiring advanced respiratory support and mechanical ventilation
- Administer blood products, manage central/PICC lines, and perform procedural sedation following unit protocols
- Participate in planned and emergent procedures and adapt to changing patient assignments throughout the shift
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV therapy, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
- Ensure infection prevention and isolation precautions are followed in a fast-paced ICU setting
- Deliver compassionate, patient- and family-centered care within a technologically advanced cardiovascular ICU
