PACU Registered Nurse (Travel RN) – 12-week travel nursing job in Baltimore, MD providing advanced peri-anesthesia and trauma care at a Level I Shock Trauma center. Join our high-acuity Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) team and deliver expert perioperative and critical care nursing.
Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,850 - $1,950
- Location: Baltimore, MD 21201 — Located in the heart of Baltimore, a vibrant city known for its rich history, diverse cultural attractions, and thriving healthcare community. - Contract Length: 12 weeks
- Start Date: April 27, 2026
- Shift: Rotating Day (07:00–19:00) and Night (19:30–07:30), 3x12-hour shifts per week
- Hours per Week: 36
- Unit: Shock Trauma PACU (12 beds) — Trauma PACU, Post-Anesthesia Care Unit
- Patient Ratio: 1:2
- Patient Age Range: Adults, Geriatrics
- Weekend Coverage: 3 weekend shifts every 4 weeks
- On-Call: 1-2 twelve-hour call shifts per 6-week schedule
- Floating: Required within specialty and sister facilities
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of recent PACU or critical care RN experience (travel RN experience required)
- Active Maryland (MD) or Compact RN License at time of submission
- BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA only)
- NIHSS certification
- Experience with Epic EMR / Epic charting system
- Competency in titration of vasopressors, airway management, care of ventilated patients, blood product administration, and fluid resuscitation
- Trauma Level I experience preferred — experience in high-acuity trauma and perioperative nursing valued
- Comfortable floating within hospital and specialty units
- Two satisfactory professional references from most recent employers
- Permanent residence must be 50 miles or more from the facility (travel nursing policy)
Responsibilities — PACU RN / Perioperative Nurse
- Deliver vigilant pre- and post-operative care to outpatients and inpatients undergoing scheduled or emergency surgery
- Provide peri-anesthesia care with a focus on traumatic injury management in a busy Shock Trauma Center
- Support the mission of the Shock Trauma Center through clinical flexibility, including procedural space and patient overflow from the Trauma Resuscitation Unit
- Administer and monitor pain management, procedural sedation, and blood products
- Manage ventilated patients, titrate vasopressors, and perform fluid resuscitation
- Maintain accurate documentation using Epic charting system and adhere to infection control and isolation precautions
- Participate in on-call rotations, weekend coverage, and float assignments as required
