Qualifications / Job Requirements

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license (RRT). Must meet Ohio licensure requirements for practice.
• Minimum 1 year of hospital respiratory therapy experience (acute care preferred)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Ability to work independently as a travel RT and collaboratively with a multidisciplinary hospital team
• Strong clinical communication, patient education, and documentation skills

Responsibilities — Key Respiratory Therapist Duties

• Provide intensive respiratory care and safe patient transport per physician orders
• Assess patients and recommend evidence-based respiratory treatment plans
• Deliver physician-prescribed therapies using ventilators (invasive and non-invasive), oxygen delivery systems, aerosol devices, and nebulizers
• Perform chest physiotherapy, suctioning, continuous pulse oximetry, capnography monitoring, and review chest x-rays
• Conduct 12-lead EKGs, basic arrhythmia recognition, and pulmonary function studies
• Support procedures such as bronchoscopy assistance, tracheostomy care, chest tube management, and arterial puncture
• Set up, operate, and monitor mechanical ventilation and respiratory equipment; troubleshoot as needed
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation of treatments, ventilator settings, and patient responses
• Communicate effectively with physicians, nursing staff, and provide thorough shift-to-shift handoff reports
• Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (BLS/ACLS) and respond to respiratory emergencies
• Other duties as assigned to support hospital respiratory care services
