Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,980 – $2,080 (PACU travel nurse pay)
- Location: Martinsburg, WV (25401) — Martinsburg healthcare jobs / West Virginia nursing jobs
- Assignment Duration: 13 weeks
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Shift: 12-hour days (0900–0930 start); must take call 4–6 shifts per 4-week period
- Unit: PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) – 9 PACU bays, 16 Same-Day Surgery bays
- Start Date: March 29, 2026
- End Date: June 28, 2026
- EMR: EPIC experience preferred (EPIC EMR charting)
Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent PACU experience required (Post Anesthesia Care Unit RN)
- At least 2 previous travel assignments in PACU or similar perioperative specialty
- Active RN license (compact license accepted where applicable)
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (AHA required)
- Ortho/Neuro experience preferred
- Ability to read cardiac strips; interpretation supported by anesthesia
- Comfortable titrating vasopressors and sedatives
- Willingness to participate in scheduled call rotation
Responsibilities
- Provide post-anesthesia care for patients recovering from all surgical cases except open heart
- Monitor and manage patients in both Phase 1 PACU and Phase 2 Same-Day Surgery (same-day discharge workflow)
- Use EPIC EMR for accurate charting, handoffs, and perioperative documentation
- Collaborate with anesthesia, hospitalists, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary perioperative team
- Manage ventilators, BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen when indicated; assist with airway support
- Participate in weekend and weeknight call rotation as scheduled
- Adhere to unit protocols, safety standards, and infection control practices
- Professional dress code: navy blue scrubs (not provided)
